I work at the intersection of AI, speech technologies, language, and real-world systems.

At the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, I research and teach applied AI, speech and language technologies, large language models, agentic AI workflows, and digital humanities. I also serve as the Faculty of Applied Sciences representative for artificial intelligence.

A lot of my work is about turning messy data into something useful:

  • spoken archives into searchable collections,
  • scanned historical documents into structured metadata,
  • lectures into summaries for students,
  • and AI prototypes into tools people can actually use.

I am closely connected with UWebASR, a web-based speech recognition service integrated into the CLARIN/LINDAT infrastructure, and with tools for exploring large oral-history archives such as MALACH Asking Questions.

I also teach Internet Technologies, Deep Learning Tools, Spoken Dialogue Systems, and topics around biometrics and information security at the Department of Cybernetics, Faculty of Applied Sciences. In teaching, I use project-based work, collaboration with real partners, and transparent use of AI.

Recently I have been working with LLMs, RAG, local and private AI deployments, AI-assisted software development, and agentic workflows for digital humanities, education, industry, and biotech. This includes DigiDiaDem for speech-based cognitive prescreening, AI-assisted processing of NKVD and KGB archival records, and machine learning for synthetic biology.

I give talks, run workshops, mentor students and hackathon teams, and consult on applied AI projects.

If you are interested in AI that leaves the slide deck and becomes a working system, we will probably have something to talk about.
